In Year 1 we are taught by Miss Quellin and we are supported by our teaching assistants Mrs Ellaby and Mrs Critchley.
Every day is a learning journey and adventure for us and our teachers always encourage us to do our best so that we can reach our full potential. In Year 1, our play helps us learn and explore the wonderful world around us.
Phonics is really important in Year One and we will be working hard each day to learn new sounds to use in our reading and writing, as well as lots of tricky words! We will read regularly in class and will have reading books to share with you at home. It is really important that you help us learn our sounds and read with us every night so we can show off our phonic knowledge. We also enjoy fun Maths activities with lots of practical, hands on maths, RE through our Come and See lessons and super Science! PE is one of our favourite lessons and we are given the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities. We are very lucky to have Mr Perry coming every Thursday to teach us music through African drumming, it is one of our favourite lessons!
We look forward to seeing your children grow in Faith, Love and Learning as they move through Year 1. You can keep up to date with what we are up to through our Class Dojo and our Twitter page which you can find HERE.
