We decided that having key drivers running through our units as a backbone to how and what we teach, was essential.
These drivers are fundamental to the success of our curriculum, underpin everything we do and ‘drive’ learning forwards at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School.
“With faith, nothing is impossible”
At St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School, our curriculum is underpinned by a Catholic education based on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, in which the values of the Gospel underpin all aspects of school life. It is important that our pupil’s leave us as educated and caring people who have the knowledge and skills they need to flourish as human beings and make the world a better place. We are committed to our mission statement by raising standards and providing an excellent Catholic education for every child in our care.
“Love your neighbour as you love yourself”
We want our pupils to know about the world they live in and to understand their role, rights and responsibilities as a citizen in the local and global community. We strive to open our pupil’s eyes to the possibilities open to them. This in turn, helps pupils to be tolerant, respectful and value the differences in others.
“Let your light shine”
Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all the children in our school and to prepare them for success in life, however and whatever that might mean to them as they grow and develop. All children will have the opportunity to develop their talents to the full, in the recognition that they all have talents to offer and that although these talents are different, none is more important than another and all are needed in our ever changing world.
Growth & Wellbeing
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young”
(1 Timothy 4:12)
We want to help pupils develop confidence, motivation, self-belief and a strong sense of self-worth. They develop socially and emotionally and are being equipped to become independent thinkers and lead by example. Our curriculum will strive to instil a positive and resilient mind-set, a ‘can do’ approach to their learning that will grow in all areas of their lives.
