St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School

Growing Together in Faith, Love and Learning

Our School Day

Our school is open 32.5 hours each week.

Procedures for the start of the day

The school has a class for each year group from Nursery to Year 6.

The school day is organised so that there is maximum learning time interspersed by short breaks.

The school gates are opened at 8:40am and children are expected to be lined up on the playground at 8.50 am to go in for registration.

It is very important that children arrive punctually at school as this ensures the school day starts well.   If for some unavoidable reason you are late, please still bring your child to school but drop them off at the school office.

Lunchtimes and breaks

Lunchtime is for an hour, between 12:00pm – 1:00pm and there is one playtime of 15 minutes in the morning plus 10 minutes every afternoon for the Daily Mile.

Procedures for the end of the day

The school day finishes at 3.20 pm.

Parents may come and collect their children from their child’s classroom door (or at the back of school for Year 1,2 and 5).

Children in Years 5 and 6 may, with written permission from parents/carers, wish to walk home by themselves.
